“Wall Panel 1” is an original work by Neda Licheva, in which drawing, geometry and different materials come together in an unusual decorative object with a distinctly contemporary feel.
Seen from the front, the composition appears almost symmetrical. Yet a change of viewpoint is enough for the image to begin changing.
At its heart is a complex geometric drawing made up of lines, arcs, diamonds, concentric forms and repeated ornaments. Bright yellow establishes a strong rhythm with black, white, ochre and dark earth tones.
Individual elements repeat and mirror one another, creating a sense of movement towards the centre and outwards again. Different images may be discovered in the composition — wings, a mask, an insect or a fantastical symmetrical figure.
The combination of the wooden base with Plexiglas gives the work its distinctive quality. The different planes change how we perceive the image, adding spatial depth to an otherwise graphic composition.
The work therefore offers more than a single frontal view. As the angle changes, individual lines and forms begin interacting differently, giving the panel a sense of depth and movement.
This makes “Wall Panel 1” more than a decorative image. It stands at the boundary between drawing, object and spatial composition.
The compact size of 17 × 17 cm allows the panel to serve as an independent interior accent or to be combined with other works from the series.
“Wall Panel 1” is a work that changes with the viewer’s gaze — a geometric play of lines, colours and spaces that reveals a different face depending on where it is viewed from.
