“City of Wonders” is a poetic, imaginative work by Alexander Telalim, leading us to a place that exists somewhere between reality, memory and fairy tale.
There are cities we know without ever having been to them.
In “City of Wonders”, architecture becomes the beginning of a story. Towers, arches and lights build a world that seems both unfamiliar and strangely close.
Here, the rules of reality gradually give way to the imagination. The city can be seen, but its true story remains hidden: behind windows, along streets and in those spaces the eye cannot reach.
The work awakens the childhood curiosity with which we once looked at unfamiliar places, imagining who lived there, where the streets led and what happened behind each door.
It is precisely this freedom that makes the viewer part of the artwork. Alexander Telalim builds the world, but leaves us to populate it with our own stories.
In the large format of 84 × 64 cm, the imaginary city unfolds as a space for discovery: a place to which the eye can return, finding something new each time.
“City of Wonders” is a work about places we may never have visited, but which our imagination already knows.
