In “Poppies 2”, the delicacy of wild flowers meets the strength of saturated colour. As the second work in the series, it develops the poppy motif in a more expressive and dynamic direction, with greater contrast, energy and painterly temperament.
Rich scarlet and red pigments flow freely across the paper, creating soft transitions and transparent fields of colour. More decisive graphic strokes punctuate the fluid washes, giving the composition its distinctive rhythm. Some flowers emerge vividly in the foreground while others remain merely suggested, producing depth and the sense of a living field.
At 53 × 43 cm, “Poppies 2” has a confident presence as a vivid interior accent. It can be displayed independently or together with “Poppies 1”, forming a harmonious pair with a shared subject and a different emotional character.
